Dental Bonding

Dental bonding is a procedure in which a tooth-colored resin material (a durable plastic material) is applied and hardened with a special light, which ultimately "bonds" the material to the tooth to restore or improve person's smile.

Bonding is faster and cheaper than veneers or crowns, and can thus be a good option to make small cosmetic improvements to your teeth. Bonding can be done with just one visit due to not needing the laboratory for any custom work.

Veneers and crowns, on the other hand, require a minimum of two visits and typically results in removing more tooth enamel than dental bonding. While bonding doesn’t require any major restorations, it will often need small cosmetic touchups due to it being less resistant to stains and not lasting as long as other restorations.

The bonding procedure takes between 30 and 60 minutes to complete for each tooth. After our Atlanta Smiles team determines the exact shade of your teeth, we’ll select a resin that is sure to blend in naturally. Once that’s completed, Atlanta dentists Dr. Stan Eisenberg and Dr. Cindy Bogdanoff will prepare your tooth so the bonding material will adhere easier. To accomplish this, the surface of the affected tooth will be roughened and coated with a liquid conditioner. Once the resin is on the tooth, it is cured with an ultraviolet light. Finally, Dr. Stan Eisenberg and Dr. Cindy Bogdanoff will apply the finishing touches by shaping and polishing the resin for a good fit.
